| Calls for Prince's Trust Refugee Programme - Get Started |
|
The Prince's Trust Get Started Programme for Refugees is running in February 2008 and we are currently recruiting young people who live in London onto this programme. We are targeting refugees aged 18-30 and from the following target groups: Unemployed, Educational underachievers, those in or leaving the care system, Offenders and ex-offenders.
The Get Started programme is free, and runs for 3 days a week over 4 weeks. It is designed for young refugees who have some idea of the kind of business they would like to start but need help to gain some basic business knowledge and advice in order to make their ideas a reality.
The course meets the requirements for the ASET, Enterprise Skills for Business Level 2 Award and covers business topics including: Marketing, Branding, Business Planning, Market Research, Cash Flow and Finances, Legal Issues, Product Design and Product Production. In keeping with all Prince's Trust programmes the training takes an informal approach using teamwork and group exercises to ensure that young people are supported and able to participate fully.
For more information please call Jo Kiln on 0207 5431457 or Marcus Mercer on 07810 305188.

| Certificate in Community Leadership |
|
Birkbeck's Certificate in Community Leadership is a course for community practitioners and activists working in a paid or unpaid (volunteer) capacity. It would also be of relevance to people with a broad interest in regeneration, community and voluntary sector organisations, social enterprises and partnership working.
Community Leadership provides an ideal opportunity to:
- improve your understanding of the context in which individuals, communities and organisations operate
- develop an understanding of government policies in the field of community and voluntary sector studies
- discuss common issues and develop links with colleagues from other communities and organizations
- take a step back and reflect on the work you do and its significance
- enable you to get onto the first stage of a pathway to other courses on the Certificate in Community Leadership
- access a choice of flexible study options: either 5 Saturdays (all day) over five months, or 11 Wednesday evenings
