| What is e-Citizen? Who is aimed at? |
|
e-Citizen is a basic e-skills certification developed by the European Computer Driving Licence Foundation (ECDL-F) in response to the urgent and growing need for an increase in e-skills within the community as a whole, as highlighted in the e-Europe 2005 Action Plan.
e-Citizen is a foundation computer skills certification specifically for those with a limited knowledge of computers and the Internet. It is intended to help citizens bridge the digital divide by giving them the necessary skills to participate online across a broad range of environments, from dealing with government departments to searching for information and buying products and services. By giving citizens these online skills they will have access to the life-enhancing aspects of the Information Society.
e-Citizen has been specifically designed for all adults who are not using the Internet but are literate or may be using the Internet for limited purposes.
