Welcome to the Adult Learners' Week mini site for the London region.
The aim of this mini site is to co-ordinate and promote education and training for adults, provide access to information and guidance, encourage more adults to participate and celebrate learning achievements across the London region.
Adult Learners' Week 2008 ran from 17th - 23rd May. Click here to find out what events have been registered for London.
This year has been another successful Adult Learners' Week! Thousands of adults across London have attended events, awards ceremonies and have been introduced to new learning.
The London Regional Awards Ceremony went very well, with over 130 people attending to watch learners collect their certificates and awards. Click here if you would like to see photos from the event. One of our London and national winners, John McAnuff, entertained the audience with his singing and guitar playing featuring songs from his new cd about the Jamaican language. You can order copies of this cd from John on 0208 801 4945. The cd is called "Jumeikan Langwij Alfabet Song and Project."
If you would like any electronic copies, please let Amanda Pavon-Lopez know. Anyone who entered the photography competition can also see their work displayed on the ALW Photo competition.
Two of our regional winners got special attention – Momotaz Begum from The Mary Ward Centre was featured in the FE Focus of the TES, and Milton Wacha from Action Acton was interviewed on BBC London TV. Adult Learners' Week was also featured in an article in the free newspaper, The London Paper.
Please feel free to forward Amanda Pavon-Lopez any comments you have about Adult Learners' Week - about materials, support etc, or any suggestions that you have to improve the week. In particular, we are interested in any comments you have about what makes a successful event, so we can share that information.
This year there is a new Adult Learners' Week forum which is a simple, easy to use place for on-line chat and sharing ideas. Log on
